I have to admit, I’ve definitely jumped on the One Direction bandwagon. Their songs are super catchy and their stylist dresses them in some slick outfits. While I know some songs lyrics and embarrassingly know a few of the dance moves, I am nowhere near as fanatic as some of the group’s fans. Case in point Mark Parsons. This guy is beyond hardcore, and that’s putting it mildly.
Parsons created an 18-minute cartoon adventure featuring the boys of 1D. The quality of work is outstanding and the plot is surprisingly entertaining. He even throws in a few fun facts about the group à la pop-up video. I should probably mention that Parsons isn’t your typical fan still in junior high, but rather a lead animator for FX’s “Archer” which explains the superb animation. He also voiced all the characters. I guess his bosses now know what Mark does in his spare time.
I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but it’s definitely worth watching. Dressed like Power Rangers, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne are on a mission to save pussycats from the evil Lord Faptaguise. From dressing up in drag, eating tacos, hitting each other in the balls, the boys will stop at nothing to accomplish the mission at hand. Simon Cowell and Paul McCartney both make cameos in the cartoon. Cowell is PSYMON, a holographic image who informs 1D of their mission, while McCartney takes on a mentorship role dressed up as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Watch the clip below. It’s perfect Saturday morning viewing material. It’ll remind you of your childhood when you used to watch cartoons the second you woke up.
The Adventurous Adventures of One Direction
Pretty impressive, right? What do you think of the boys’ adventures? Is it wrong that I sorta want this to become a weekly cartoon series? On second thought, don’t answer that 😉
