Norman Lear created some of television’s most memorable sitcoms, including All In The Family, Sanford and Son, Maude and The Jeffersons to name a few. Netflix rebooted one of his classics but with a twist.
One Day at a Time originally aired on CBS from 1975 to 1984. It starred Bonnie Franklin as a divorced mother raising two teenage daughters, played by Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli. The reimagining revolves around a Cuban-American family, named Alvarez.
Justina Machado plays Penelope, a military veteran and newly single mother who turns to her old-school mom Lydia (Rita Moreno) for assistance raising her two children Elena (Isabella Gomez) and Alex (Marcel Ruiz). Todd Grinnell who plays the building manager, Schneider, also helps out.
The streaming service just shared a heartwarming trailer for its new comedy. It looks cute and worthy of a binge-watching session on a lazy Sunday. All 13 episodes of One Day At A Time will appear on January 6, 2017 on Netflix. Check out the trailer below.
