Gregg Araki Presents Series Trailer For ‘Now Apocalypse’ Starring Tyler Posey, Avan Jogia & More

Gregg Araki is heavily associated with New Queer Cinema. Like several of his past projects (Kaboom, The Doom Generation), his latest offering for Starz will also feature LGBTQ characters.

Now Apocalypse is a half-hour comedy series created and executive produced by Araki, along with Steven Soderbergh and Gregory Jacobs. This surreal, coming-of-age comedy series centers on Ulysses (Avan Jogia) and his friends Carly (Kelli Berglund), Ford (Beau Mirchoff) and Severine (Roxane Mesquida), who are on various quests pursuing love, sex and fame.

Tyler Posey is also set to appear. He’ll play “an incredibly charismatic and mysterious guy Ulysses matches with on a dating app. During their highly anticipated first date, they can hardly contain themselves.” Can’t wait to see exactly what they can’t contain 😉

The series explores identity, sexuality and artistry while navigating the strange and oftentimes bewildering city of Los Angeles. Between sexual and romantic dating app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as foreboding premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy is going on, or if he is just smoking too much weed.

Araki co-wrote and directed all 10 half-hour episodes of the sexy, vibrant and fast-moving series that has a flipside of mythic, dreamlike creepiness. Karley Sciortino — author, sex columnist, and creator and host of Slutever on Viceland — co-wrote the series with Araki and serves as a consulting producer.

Now Apocalypse premieres Sunday, March 10 on STARZ. Check out the trailer below.
