Edit Britt has nothing on her portrayer, Nicollette Sheridan. The former “Desperate Housewives” actress is suing the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, on on charges of assault and battery, gender violence, wrongful termination, and “intentional infliction of emotional distress.” Wow, that’s a mouthful.
The suit goes on to claim that Cherry created a “hostile work environment” by regularly demeaning both writers and staff. Marc’s alleged unprofessionalism occurred towards her on both on and off the show set.
At one point in the lawsuit, Nicollette states Cherry “forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head” when she questioned something in the script in 2008. You might me asking yourself, why didn’t see complain about this right away. Sheridan claims she immediately told the head honchos at ABC but no action was ever taken.
While I can definitely see Cherry and Sheridan butting heads on and off the set, I find it hard to believe he would be a tyrant across the board. If he was, I find even harder to believe that Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher or Marcia Cross would keep their mouths shut. All those women seem to be outspoken individuals and wouldn’t tolerate these alleged acts on set.
In her lawsuit, Nicollette is seeking $20 million in damages. Do you think this litigious action has any merit or just an attempt to seek revenue since her termination from the hit ABC show? She really hasn’t done anything since playing Edie Britt so fabulously.
