Hitting your DVD shelves this week is the action/adventure comedy Red. This gem stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman just to name a few. The film follows Frank, a a former black-ops CIA agent who lives a quiet life at home until one day, a hit squad shows up to kill him. With his identity now compromised, Frank reassembles his old team to still prove they have a few tricks up their sleeve.

Reviewers weren’t too hard on this flick but many said that ever since Die Hard, Bruce Willis only plays one character. Many ratings came back as 3 out of 5 stars or B grade. However, many loved the ensemble of the cast and what they brought to the story.

The DVD packs some special features like extended and deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes looks and interviews with the cast and crew. If you like the simple action/comedy with an all-star ensemble cast then I recommend you check this out. It is available on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray Special Edition.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest – Blu-ray/DVD

This is the final book in the Millennium Trilogy from author Stieg Larsson. Director Daniel Alfredson creates a great adaptation following the story of Lisbeth (Noomi Rapace) who is fighting to prove her innocence after being accused of committing multiple murders. The more she gets framed, the more she fights to prove she’s innocent. This film received high critical acclaim and I definitely recommend you check this out.

Secretariat – Blu-ray/DVD

An inspirational movie from the Disney factory, this film starring Diane Lane and John Malkovich tells the story of the the greatest racing horse ever. A housewife who knows little about horse racing raises a horse that will become the Triple Crown winner. The DVD features Heart of a Champion, a behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted scenes and music video from co-star AJ Michalka. This film is great for the whole family.
