Nancy O’Dell replacing Mary Hart a couple of years ago was one thing, but this is almost sacrilegious. Entertainment Tonight has arguably one of the most recognizable theme songs ever. Messing around with such an iconic tune could be a recipe for disaster. For the first time in nearly 20 years, the ET song is getting revamped by none other than will.i.am.
The Entertainment Tonight theme song was originally composed by Michael Mark in 1981. Then in 1990, it was re-orchestrated by then ET host John Tesh. Now it’s time for the Black Eyed Peas singer’s turn. Not surprisingly, the Grammy-Award winning producer adds a new bass line and other electronic elements. It’s not bad, but the ridiculous vocals are absolutely unnecessary. Check out his version below which debuted a couple days ago.
What do you think of will.i.am’s version? Who should’ve the show’s producers hired instead of him? Do you still watch Entertainment Tonight? Sound off below.

Awful. The original theme is timeless. This new one will be dated in less than five years. The producers made a big mistake. They needed to hire someone who writes real music, not electronic noise

Agreed with Josh. Absolutely terrible. The original chords should have been kept if they were going to “popify” the theme song. You don’t mess with classics.

this is so bad. it sounds so amateur. and since when did adding vocals to an iconic theme song ever sound like a good idea?

The new theme song is HORRIBLE! My 3-year-old grandson could do better! And to show him making movement and facial expressions to the “music” was stupid! HATE it!
