Producers for House Of Cards haven’t made an official statement regarding his status on the show yet, but Netflix has made it clear they want no part of the 58-year-old actor. Showrunners have no other option but to write his character off the show after this. The streaming service issued a statement severing ties with Spacey in light of all the sexual assault allegations that have surfaced.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show,” a representative for the streamer said in a statement Friday. “We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in postproduction, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”
Not only will Spacey not be featured in the political drama, but Netflix has also scrapped a Gore Vidal biopic starring the Oscar winner. That film wrapped shooting in Italy just days before the scandal erupted. Netflix had planned a 2018 release for Gore.
