Even though I love all types of music (I really do), my first love is R&B. I’m ecstatic that the genre is somewhat making a comeback these days. One artist noticing the trend and returning to his roots is Ne-Yo. Lately, he’s churned out more dance pop fare than his earlier R&B releases like “So Sick” and “Because of You” both of which I love. For his new album, he’s promised it will be “predominantly R&B.” Halleloo.
“R&B is my core, it’s my foundation, it’s where it all started from, and I don’t feel like I’ve given it the attention it deserves,” – Ne-Yo
Based on his new collaboration with Cher Lloyd, I’d say he’s off to a good start. While not completely R&B, “It’s All Good” is less electro-dance pop than his recent releases. The duet with the X Factor UK alum is a song made entirely by fans on social media. The two singers drew inspiration from submissions by fans on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #ItsAllGood. The track is a promotional one for Fruttare Fruit Bars. Ne-Yo told E!, “We just wanted it to be a song that felt good, that sounded good.” Give it a listen below.
