NBC Scores A Ratings Hit With ‘Manifest’ Premiere

It was the friendly skies for NBC on Monday night. The premiere for Manifest attracted 10.3 million viewers and a 2.2 demo rating. It was Monday’s No. 2 rated show, trailing only The Big Bang Theory on CBS. Will the show continue to have a smooth flight for the rest of the season or experience turbulence? My money is on the former. Pilot was excellent.

Manifest was the peacock network’s most-watched drama launch in three years since Blindspot. Even more impressive is the fact it built on its Voice lead-in. Last fall’s The Brave only managed a 54 percent retention while Timeless and Blindspot scored 60 percent and 89 percent respectively. It also matched last fall’s highest-rated series premiere- The Good Doctor over on ABC.

Speaking of The Good Doctor, the medical drama matched its smallest audience (7.8 million) while delivering its second-lowest demo rating (1.4). Perhaps its lead-in was to blame. Dancing With The Stars saw a 30 percent drop to 8.1 million viewers and 1.1 rating.

Over on CBS, the premiere of Magnum PI delivered a respectable 8.1 million viewers and 1.2 demo. Meanwhile on FOX, The Resident tied its best Monday performance with 4.9 million and 1.1 demo and 9-1-1 was on par with its freshman average and finale.
