Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Features First Ever Same-Sex Kiss

It was the LGBTQ kiss seen around the world and it only took 92 years, but it finally happened. A same-sex smooch aired live during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I wonder how many complaints NBC is going to receive for this.

The historic moment occurred when the cast of The Prom took to the street. The Broadway musical tells the story of an Indiana high school student who isn’t allowed to bring her girlfriend to prom. Actresses Caitlin Kinnunen and Isabelle McCalla were the ones to engage on what is believed to be the first lesbian kiss captured on the holiday’s nationally televised event.

“Broadway’s The Prom is grateful to Macy’s and NBC for their acceptance and inclusivity of a community and a story that is about acceptance, tolerance and love,” the musical’s producers Bill Damaschke, Dori Berinstein, and Jack Lane told EW.com in a joint statement. “These are some of the themes reflected in our musical comedy and we are very proud to be the very first LGBTQ kiss on the Thanksgiving Day Parade.”
