Everyone loves Nachos for an appy, right? Well, here’s one that you can take home for dessert. Once a week, I’ll try to highlight a different crush of mine- yeah, I’m that fickle. I’ve got hot piece of ass A.D.D.. Seriously, when you’ve nearly been in a decade long relationship, you need some good eye candy every once in awhile to keep your senses fresh. This week’s delectable treat is Argentinian polo player, Nacho Figueras. Born Ignacio Figueras- nicknamed Nacho- was born in Buenos Aires in 1977. You might recognize him from his ubiquitous Ralph Lauren Polo ads which are plastered everywhere- magazines, billboards and commercials. Recently, he’s also been featured in the season premiere of Gossip Girl where he escorted our favorite poor little rich girl, Serena to her horsey.
To be perfectly honest, it wasn’t his Polo campaign nor his brief cameo on Gossip Girl that won my heart. It was his appearance on Oprah’s “Famous People Around The World” episode this week that I caught while channel surfing that sent my heart-a-fluttering. He was so unbelievably charming talking about his sport, modeling career, and his love for his wife and kids. The adorable Argentinian accent didn’t hurt either. I loved how he kept gazing into Oprah’s eyes and kissing her hand throughout his segment while flicking that gorgeous silky mane of hair- I’m a sucker for longer curly hair on men.
Known around the world as the “David Beckham of polo”, the 32-year-old athlete’s mission in life is to bring polo to the masses and raise its profile. Recently, he organized the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic exhibition at Governor’s Island in New York. His Royal Highness Prince Harry even came by to play a match. Growing up in a middle class family, Figueras began playing polo at the age of 8 and turned pro at 17. He currently plays for Black Watch, a team he co-owns and is a captain of.
An introduction to Ralph Lauren by famed photographer, Bruce Weber at a dinner party led to him becoming the face of Ralph Lauren. In 2005, he became the face of Lauren’s premier line “Ralph Lauren Black Label” and in 2009 became the face of the World of Polo fragrances. Here are a few ads featuring the Argentinian Adonis…
So what do you think? Is he crush worthy? Apparently, the readers of Vanity Fair think so. In June of 2009, he was voted the second most handsome man in the world by the readers of the magazine, just behind Robert Pattinson and just ahead of Brad Pitt. That’s a man sandwich I’d like to be the meat in. Yummy. Weigh in your thoughts and comments on my inaugural weekly crush.
