Seattle was the home of grunge in the 90s and now it seems they’re the go-to place for hipsters. From flannel plaid shirts to skinny jeans and ironic tees, Seattle fashion has certainly changed in two decades. Travel + Leisure magazine just named the Emerald City as the “Best City for Hipsters“.
The publication took into account everything near and dear to the average hipster when ranking the Top 35 cities in the United States. Whether it was the music scene, the amount of coffee shops and boutiques or geek technology, no stone was unturned when researching the hipster-friendliness of each city. Seattle beat the rest of the competition due to their potent coffee and tech savviness.
Coming in the runner-up slot was neighboring Portland. I frequent both cities and have to admit, I’m not surprised with Travel + Leisure’s findings. That said, I’m surprised both LA and New York didn’t land in the Top 10. See the rest of the rankings below.

I live in Portland and I have been to Seattle many, many, many times. I can assure you that the Emerald Bitch up north has nothing on Portland or San Francisco. But hey if it means more hipsters move to Seattle, due to this rediculous article, then I can speak for all of Portlandia when I say, “thank baby Jesus.”
