McAfee-Antivrus Software has once again named the most dangerous celebrity searches online for their annual list. Cybercriminals often target gossip mongers looking for the latest facts or fiction regarding their favorite celebrities. Just like that one night stand you pick up at the club in the wee hours of the morning, googling certain celebrities will sometimes leave you a parting gift you weren’t looking for- a big ol’ virus. According to this year’s list, Jessica Biel tops the list and is considered the most dangerous celebrity to search for. Searching for terms like “Jessica Biel wallpapers”, “Jessica Biel”, Jessica Biel downloads”, “Jessica Biel screensavers” or “Jessica Biel photos” increases your chances of receiving a virus. In fact, by clicking on some of the results, you increase your chances to 1 in 5 of receiving some sort of spyware, adware, spam, viruses and other unwanted goodies for your computer. Jessica Biel’s high profile romance with Justin Timberlake and overall hotness has skyrocketed her to top of the list ad bumped golden-boy Brad Pitt from the number one spot.
Here are the rest of McAfee’s “Most Dangerous List”.
2. Beyoncé: For the second year in a row, the bootylicious former single lady lands at the runner-up spot. Fans of hers looking for ‘Beyoncé ringtones’ yield the riskiest results.
3. Jennifer Aniston: 40-something and lonely, the former Friends star can take solace in the fact cybercriminals find her hot enough to use as bait even though former suitors like Brad Pitt and Bradley Cooper do not.
More than 40% of results for “Jennifer Aniston screensavers” had viruses including the “FunLove virus”.
4. Tom Brady: Soon-to-be-daddy of Gisele Bunchen’s offspring, the New England Patriot quarterback makes the list due to his fans’ desire to know more about this uber-hot jock.
5. Jessica Simpson: Former “chicken of the sea”, Jessica’s dumb blonde image often lures equally unsuspecting surfers to sites with potentially damaging downloads.
6. Gisele Bundchen: With her supermodel status and high profile romances with Tom Brady and Leo Dicaprio, it’s no surprise the Brazilian made the list.
7 Miley Cyrus: Even tween mega-stars are not immune to viruses. In fact the young surfers looking for some Miley related searches are probably the easiest targets by cybercriminals to receive malicious spyware and adware.
8. Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox: Seriously, a tie? How hard is it to name one as 8 and the other 9. Given the fact Megan Fox has been dubbed a hotter younger version of Angelina Jolie, McAfee probably thought they were being efficient by placing them as a duo.
9. Ashley Tisdale: Proving that targeting tween/teen web surfers is a goldmine for malware-laden sites, cybercriminals have targeted one of High School Musical’s biggest noses stars.
10. Brad Pitt: I’m sure this is one crown Mr. Pitt doesn’t mind relinquishing. He can just sit back and relax while letting his two most recent wives (Aniston & Jolie) duke it out for higher spots on the annual list.
