Lisa Ling wants to know: how many is too many? There are half a million Americans practicing polyamory or committed non-monogamy. In Our America, Lisa Ling meets three families who believe it is possible to love more than one person at a time.
As it pertains to the gay community, it’s quite common as well. In fact, an article written last year by Daniel Vaillancourt for The Advocate stated that an estimated 4 out of 5 gay couples are in open relationships. Needless to say this is always a fascinating topic of discussion. I personally believe whatever works between the two (or three, etc.) is their business. Of course these types of relationships have their own challenges, but so do monogamous ones.
Tune in for this all-new episode of Our America with “I Love You & You…& You” on Tuesday, March 5 at 10/9c, on OWN. Watch the preview below

1 person and 1 person only. I just entered into my first monogamous relationship, something my significant other and I discussed. This is his first monogamous relationship. We love each other deeply and to explore outside of this? He knows how to keep me highly satisfied and vise versa. But Lisa, your findings are American. I’m Canadian and well, some of us Canadian guys, know how to handle a monogamous relationship. Open ones tend to create issues, hard ships and yes, broken hearts.

Emotionally imature people cannot handle anything but monogamy. It takes a lot of self love and commitment to each other to explore sexuality in that manner. I couldn’t do it but I would never judge anyone who does. To each his own.
