ABC Gives Mistresses A Season 4 Renewal But Is Jennifer Esposito Returning?

Mistresses isn’t exactly a ratings powerhouse, but ABC is extending the soapy drama’s life for another season. Phew. It’s not exactly masterpiece theater but it’s become somewhat of a Summer staple for me. There were also so many cliffhangers on the Season 3 finale, I want closure. Especially with that drag twist. Insane!!!

When production moved to Vancouver to cut costs last season, Alyssa Milano didn’t want to uproot her family and quit the series. Enter Blue Bloods alum Jennifer Esposito. When we last saw her character, she was contemplating suicide in her prison cell. Find out below, if Esposito is heading back or not.

Sadly, the 42-year-old actress only signed a one year contract. Boo!!! Maybe there is hope she might make an appearance in the future. TV Line spoke to showrunner Rina Mimoun previously about Jennifer.

“We would love to invite Jennifer back for as many episodes as she’s willing or able to do, but this was a one-year character for us — at the level she’s playing this year,” showrunner Rina Mimoun told TVLine earlier this month. “We were blown away by her performance, and she brings a certain sparkle, but if we’re lucky enough to get a fourth season, we might just want to find a whole different woman to inject into our foursome. We don’t want to start with so much baggage for all the other women to get through.”

With Esposito only recurring on The Affair, it’s not completely out of the question that she might come back. Here’s hoping. Do you watch Mistresses? Excited it’s back for a fourth season? Weigh in below.

  • This should have never been an option. Michael Sam needs to do what he says he wants to do….. play football and make the team.

All this other off-field stuff is nothing but a distraction that can keep him from making his dream come true. Michael Sam has an uphill climb to make the team, that is what he needs to concentrate on. All the other stuff can come once he makes the team!
