Miley Cyrus is in a sharing mood while hitting the media circuit to promote her new single, “Malibu.” During a stop at WKTU 103.5, the 24-year-old singer revealed something about her BFF Katy Perry and breakout hit “I Kissed A Girl.” Apparently, it was about her.
“When she came out with ‘I Kissed a Girl,’ I was doing the Hannah Montana movie, and I heard her on the radio,” Miley said during her WKTU interview. “They said, ‘Who did you write that about?’ She said me! And I was on a four wheeler, actually—my dad [country star Billy Ray Cyrus] had this four wheeler, this is how hillbilly we are, we had a radio attached to the four wheeler, and I heard it and I screamed, and started freaking out.”
That’s interesting because Perry had previously stated that Scarlett Johansson was the inspiration for her girl-on-girl smash. “I was with my boyfriend [Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy] at the time, and I said to him, ‘I’m not going to lie: If Scarlett Johansson walked into the room and wanted to make out with me, I would make out with her. I hope you’re okay with that?” Katy to NME.
Who do you believe? Obviously, Katy in this situation. Perhaps Perry was just joking during that interview and Cyrus misinterpreted things because it would be weird on Katy’s part to write a song about a then 14-16 year old, no?
