While Miley Cyrus‘ milkshake might bring her hot Aussie boyfriend Liam Hemsworth to her backyard, I’m heading over for another reason. The former Hannah Montana star corralled her band this past summer (pre-infamous haircut) to cover a few of her favorite tracks. Over the past months, Cyrus has released videos from her Backyard Sessions. The latest one debuted on Christmas Day.
Given all her tabloid coverage and hijinks it’s easy to forget that Miley has a decent voice when used in the right context. Miley’s cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” is pretty spectacular. She’s definitely right at home with the country classic. After all, she’s probably known it since she was a child. Parton is Miley’s godmother. This isn’t the first time Miley has covered “Jolene”. She teamed up with Parton a couple years ago for Dolly’s Hallmark Channel special, 25 Years of Dollywood. Check out Miley’s latest rendition of “Jolene” below.

I think serious songs like this would be a better use of her voice. Personally, I like the haircut. It just requires a certain effort in the way of styling to make it work for her.

I like Miley, but hated this cover. She doesn’t connect with the lyrics in any way. She even half smiles…
