Michael Jackson originally intended for “Blood On The Dance Floor” to be part of his 1991 album, Dangerous. It failed to make the cut but ultimately became the lead single for his 1997 remix album Blood on the Dancefloor: HIStory in the Mix. 20 years after its initial release, a new music video has arrived for the Teddy Riley-produced track.
So why the new clip? After seeing the ONE by Cirque du Soleil cast’s one-time-only performance to “Blood On The Dance Floor” during this year’s annual celebration of Michael’s birthday at the show’s theater, the Estate and Sony Music were inspired to create a contemporized short film for the song. “Blood On The Dance Floor 2017” is the result of those efforts. It seamlessly combines Michael Jackson’s iconic short film with newly shot footage of the One cast in supporting roles. Check it out below.
