When I was a kid, at one time one of my favorite TV shows was definitely Blossom. “Don’t know about the future, that’s anybody’s guess / A’int no good-a-reason for gettin’ all depressed.” I still remember all the words to the theme song!
After the show ended, Mayim Bialik (who played Blossom) decided she didn’t want to act anymore and wanted to pursue her interests in neuroscience. More recently, she made a comeback in The Big Bang Theory and put her neuroscience to work. Such a fascinating woman!
In a new video for PBS’s “The Secret Life of Scientists,” Blossom talks about her double life in acting and neuroscience in a special segment called “Mayam Bialik: Blossoming Into Science.” The PBS show is an Emmy-nominated web video series and site from the makers of the acclaimed science series, PBS’s NOVA. Each episode profiles one of today’s leading scientists, and shows what happens when the lab coats come off. Watch the episode below!
