Matthew McConaughey Fights HIV In ‘Dallas Buyers Club’

Remember when Matthew McConaughey lost all that weight for a movie role? The first trailer for Dallas Buyers Club has finally made its debut. The film, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, makes its worldwide premiere early next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In Dallas Buyers Club, McConaughey portrays a real-life cowboy named Ron Woodroof. In 1985, Woodroof was diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. After being shunned by friends, the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies, he took the fight against the virus into his own hands. Along with Rayon, an HIV positive transsexual woman played by Jared Leto, the two smuggled non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world through both legal and illegal means by way of a “buyers club” for fellow HIV-positive people.

Originally, the film was supposed to hit theaters on December 6, but has been pushed up to November 1 to avoid the glut of Oscar-bait films being released in December. Check out the first trailer below.
