Pitting these two against each other for this week’s Who’d You Rather battle seemed very appropriate. A few days ago, rumor had it that Channing Tatum is the frontrunner to earn the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” for People magazine’s annual issue. If you recall, both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were previously bestowed with the honor from the publication. In addition, I spent last weekend in Boston and had a great time and wanted to feature two famous Bostonians. And cute ones at that.
Affleck and Damon’s longtime bromance has brought them much success including an Oscar for their screenwriting efforts on Good Will Hunting. The moment they walked away with the Academy Award, they became Hollywood ‘IT’ boys.
Ben Affleck parlayed this momentum into starring roles in big budget movies including Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love, Pearl Harbor and Daredevil. Not forgetting his indie roots, the 40-year-old actor also impressed in small films like Chasing Amy, 200 Cigarettes and Dogma. Nowadays, Affleck is still starring in films, but also directing them. This year his critically-acclaimed film Argo is an Oscar contender. Ben is now happily married to Jennifer Garner, after failed high-profile romances with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
While Affleck gravitated towards action films, Matt Damon continued to star in well-received character-driven movies including Saving Private Ryan, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Departed, Invictus and Contagion. Eventually he delved into the action genre with the highly-successful Jason Bourne franchise. In addition to his acting career, the 42-year-old is known for his charitable work for organizations ONE Campaign, H2O Africa Foundation, and Water.org. Like Affleck, Damon is now married. He met his wife Luciana Barroso while she was working as a bartender in Miami. Matt also had high-profile romances that didn’t work- Winona Ryder and Minnie Driver.
Over the years, I’ve flipped flopped between which one I thought was hotter. Initially, I was attracted to Matt Damon and his boy-next-door appeal, then I saw Affleck’s February 1998 GQ cover where he showed off his hairy chest and I was sold. My infatuation continued until the bomb that was Gigli. Damon then won me over as Jason Bourne (I love those movies). Now though, I think I’m back to Affleck. His scruffy DILF persona is kinda hot. Check out several pictures of the two over the years and cast your vote on Who’d You Rather below.
