Ocean’s 8 boasts a star-studded cast that includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Nora Lum (who goes by the rap name Awkwafina), Mindy Kaling and Sarah Paulson. The highly-anticipated film just got an injection of testosterone. During a red carpet event this week, an actor from the original Ocean’s Eleven trilogy reveals he’s making a cameo in the all-female spinoff.
“I’m doing a little bit in the movie,” Matt Damon told ET during the premiere of Manchester By The Sea. “I haven’t read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I’m excited to see what those women do with it. It’s going to be fun.”
Damon played Linus Caldwell, a skilled pickpocket who eventually becomes a core member of the group. Bullock’s character is reportedly the sister of George Clooney’s character Danny. Most likely, that’s how Linus is connected to the ladies.
“It’s a pretty similar tone. You know, Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren’t. I don’t think he would’ve wanted anyone to do it if we weren’t. This is very much an extension and a continuation,” director Gary Ross told Slashfilm.
Ocean’s 8 isn’t scheduled to arrive until June 8, 2018 when it will face off against Transformers 6. My money is on these ladies knocking out those robots in disguise. Do you think any other actors from the original trilogy will make cameos? Who are you hoping does? Sound off below.
