Empire has just added another high-profile guest star to appear on the second season of the breakout FOX drama. Oscar winner Marisa Tomei joins the cast as a lesbian billionaire named Mimi Whiteman.
Deadline reports her character is “a demanding venture capitalist who becomes involved in Lyon family drama. A Forbes list billionairess, Mimi is a lover of hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women.”
This isn’t the first time Tomei has appeared on a television series with a predominantly African-American cast. The 50-year-old was a series regular on the first season of The Cosby Show spinoff, A Different World. Loved her on that sitcom and was bummed when she left.
Tomei joins previously announced guest stars including Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Magic Mike’s Adam Rodriguez.
