Mariah Carey Pays Tribute To George Michael With Moving Cover

Shortly after his untimely death in December 2016, Marey Carey posted a loving note on her website about her admiration for George Michael.

“George was not only a great musician, he was an active ambassador in the LBGTQ community, pushing for greater understanding, acceptance, and love for all people. He touched so many lives and inspired us all. ‘One More Try’ on Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse is a tribute to his influence, in many ways,” she wrote. “George Michael was an original. He changed music and his music changed lives. We’ll continue to mourn the loss of an incredible artist and friend but his music will keep us smiling and dancing, forever.”

During her set at this year’s Dubai Jazz Festival, Mimi took a moment to pay tribute to Michael. She belted out his 1988 hit ballad, “One More Try,” off his Faith album to a roaring audience. The following performance actually took place in February, but the 47-year-old diva recently just shared a high-res video of it.

As she stated above, she previously recorded a cover for her 2014 LP, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. Given his recent death, the stirring live rendition is much more powerful and emotional than her studio recording. Give her moving tribute a view below.
