Marc Cherry Dishes “Desperate Housewives” Finale & Disses “Sex and the City”

Curious to know what the finale of “Desperate Housewives” will look like? Well, Marc Cherry isn’t going to tell you. That said, he did reveal a few tasty tidbits during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday. One of the most notable reveals is he’ll actually appear in the show’s final episode. He’ll pay homage to one of Hollywood’s iconic directors.

“I’m gonna do a Hitchcock, and the hair and makeup people will go through more hell that day than ever,” – Marc Cherry

Cherry also added that the ending, which he’s envisioned for the past seven and a half years, will be “sweet” and not “bittersweet” and will surprise viewers. If you’ve been watching the final season of “Desperate Housewives” you know that the season-long mystery recalls the mysterious “I Know What You Did” note from Season 1. Will it have anything to do with that?

Keeping in line with coming full circle, Cherry promised that some old familiar faces will return in the last episode. Does this mean that there’s a chance that Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan) is heading back to Fairview? Probably not. Not only was the character killed off, but Sheridan sued Cherry, claiming he slapped her and was unfairly fired from the series.

For those hoping all the storylines of those living on Wisteria Lane will be tied up in one pretty bow, shouldn’t hold their breath. It was revealed that the finale may leave fans with some unanswered questions. Executive producer Bob Daily said, “We don’t necessarily want to tie up every loose end in the finale,” reasoning, “Life goes on on Wisteria Lane.

Is this simply the producers way of leaving the door open for an upcoming television movie, reunion or feature film? Not so, according to Cherry. “Boy, after eight years, I think we’re done,” He then followed that up with a jab at SATC and said “I’m just never sending these gals to Dubai, that’s all I’m saying,” OUCH and ROTFLMAO. So true. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte should’ve stopped after the first feature film with Carrie and Mr. Big’s wedding.

Have any predictions on what the final episodes of the ABC dramedy will look like? Who do you think is behind the notes that Bree has been receiving? Will Edie Britt come back? Post all your predictions below.
