Madonna Threatens To Cancel Concert Over Smokers

Madonna’s MDNA tour tops Billboard’s list of the best tours of 25, grossing the most money with $228,406,085 in ticket sales, with a total of 72/72 sold out shows and 1,635,176 people in attendance.
This week, her tour brought her to Chile where she was angered by fans who were smoking cigarettes. This totally brings me back to when Britney Spears was performing her Circus tour here in Vancouver and the same thing happened. The lights came on and woman’s voice warned that crowd that if the smoking (weed in this case) didn’t stop, Britney would not perform.
In Madonna’s case, she made the announcement herself. “There’s people smoking right now. No Smoking! Where are they smoking? If you’re gonna smoke cigarettes, I’m not doing a show, she warned. “You don’t care about me, I don’t care about you. Alright, are we gonna play that game? I’m not kidding. I can’t sing if you smoke. Entiendes? If you love me then don’t smoke. No smoking! You’re looking right at me while you’re smoking cigarettes like I’m a stupid f*cking idiot.” Watch the video below.

Really? I mean, c’mon. I’m from Chile and throughout this whole week there has been a big backlash about this Madonna concert and certainly it was not because of this.
First, I did not attend to the concert mainly because I’m not a big Madonna fan (I like just a few songs) and because the tickets were expensive as hell.
Second, this is nothing compare to the real hell that the people who went to this show lived trough. The day was very rainy, the opening act came out on stage quite late and Madonna herself appeared on stage 2 hours later. She performed 13 out of 19 normal songs and the show lasted for about 1 hour and she is complaining about smoking. GREAT, it seems like she really did not care about her audience.
There has been such a stir that people who attended the concert are going to sue the producers of the show through the Consumer Service.

She is being a “stupid f*cking idiot” if she gives her fans that hard of a time about smoking during her show, despite putting out a music video (“Girl Gone Wild”) where she and performers around her are depicted as smoking.

I agree with Cristo. I’m so sick of her attitude. I mean, I am completely against smoking too. But she is not GOD or the president, she cannot always force people to do what SHE WANTS. Plus, was this an open air concert or did it just look as if it were in the video? If it was, the smoke would go away quickly anyway.

Madonna, go fuck yourself!!!! how dare she? the bitch doesn´t even sing live!!! and THIS coming from a woman whom i clearly remember as a young kid watchin the making of the video for ÿou´ll see¨where she is chain smoking and saying her corset was on so tight that she couldnt eat, so she just smoked to suppress the hunger….ALL WHILE INSISDE A ROOM FULL OF CAMERA PEOPLE AND WHAT HAVE YOU….this was an open air arena. FUCKING BITCH!

I too was going to make a comment about the numerous pictures and videos where Madonna is shown smoking. She was probably pissed that it was raining and blamed her cancellation on the smokers. Also, is it just me or does the arena look very empty? Maybe everyone else is at the Lady Gaga show, where cigarette smoking is allowed?!?

Fair enough, she’s probably more self-conscious regarding her vocals/general health than she used to be…
Her delivery, to people that adore her, could have been better imo. Yes, she’s quite abrasive, opinionated and outspoken but these are her fans. Most fans would follow her request without hesitation.

i seriously do not understand why her “fans” put up with her horrible attitude – she could have politely asked people not to smoke and warn people before they entered the arena
too bad her abilities as a vocalist is just as bad as her ego – people pay 300 dollars to see u in the rain and you fucking treat them like this

grow up…there is no need to start calling people names. And BTW: i’ve been to a Madonnaconcert, and i know she didn’t sing everything live. I know when someone is singing live and when they’re not. i have not seen this show, nor do i care for her music much after the Music album.
My issue with her is that the bitch smokes, herself, and she’s demanding people dont smoke in an OPEN AIR ARENA, b/c she can’t sing…that’s entirely too much. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY that cigarette smoke, or any kind of smoke, for that matter, would affect her vocals in such an open space…..one that looks entirely too empty.
And back to the singing live issue: Madonna has herself admitted that she performs to a live recording per arena…meaning she goes and does the vocals live to tape and then lip syncs to that live recording….but i cannot say for sure if she still does that all the time, but i know i saw her say this herself on tv…

and, i’m soryr…there is no excuse for making your fans wait TWO HOURS AFTER THE OPENING ACT….i mean, she was there for the sound check in the afternoon, so where the hell did she go off to that made her be 2hours late? give me a break. She gave no thought to what dangers may be lurkin in the night if fans are leaving a stadium at what i presume would be midnight or 1 am…especially in these thirld world countries where stickups are rampant

First off we don’t know how many times they were asked not to smoke. I’ve been to several of her tours and you’re constantly reminded not to smoke. If they ignore the rules then doesn’t seem so harsh. Secondly If you don’t like the rules don’t show up for sound check – just come to the show…if at all. And for the record most of her show is live with the exception of Girl gone wild and Vogue. And I’ve seen more attitude from queens at the bar… lets keep it in perspective.

Quit being so lame. She’s a damn hypocrite. She has smoked plenty of times in her movies and music videos. Most recent being Girls Gone Wild. Also, it’s an outdoor venue and she’s about 20 feet from the closest person. There is zero chance she can even smell it let alone be affected by 2nd had smoke. She’s just being a bitch on a miserable day in a dump of a country. She is the least grateful of all of today’s popstars to her fans. She probably rings in about a million a show. She can suck up a puff of smoke or 2 for people who paid way too much to see her.
