Looks the Queen of Pop herself also thought that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” sounded awfully similar to her own “Express Yourself” song. Madonna addressed the similities in an interview with Newsweek, saying “I thought, ‘What a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was … interesting.” This is an excerpt from an upcoming profile in the magazine that is set to appear on January 30.
I love how she’s just getting back on the scene (with her upcoming album “M.D.N.A.” coming soon) and she’s dominating the news and telling it like it is. This poke at Gaga’s song wasn’t even from her interview with Cynthia McFadden of ABC. So much more juiciness to come!
Looks like Madonna has come back to claim her thrown – the one she left onstage in the Hard Candy tour. Check out an awesome video mashup of the two songs in question below.

Not a huge fan of Madonna, but not a big fan of Gaga either. Gaga’s voice is better live and madonna’s nostalgic to me. Still I think Express yourself is a much better song with an even better video. GaGa’s way over for me, Madonna has proven to be an icon. so….. welcome back madonna, bye bye GaGa.

I adore Madonna, however she never ever tried to say anything about being gay. I have never felt recognized in one of her songs. At least Gaga isn’t afraid to say the words gay on the radio. When Madonna wants to help the gay community for real, then I’ll be there for who I have called my musical mother all through growing up. Someone’s been hanging out with the hater M.I.A. too long. How easy to ride on Lady Gaga’s coattails and let’s not forget her new song which features two other artists, because Queen of Pop can’t do all by herself anymore! Love you Madonna, but it’s just not cute.

Let’s also not forget that Madonna’s Express Yourself isn’t that original either. Enter source material Respect Yourself by The Staple Singers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1II2nPmBZJk Just typical Madonna causing a controversy to sell her next album. I’m excited it for the album nonetheless, but seriously listen to the chorus and bridges of Respect Yourself. I was shocked, but what’s funny is no one is gonna cover that story, just the one that sells and gets hits. Pop culture peeps do your research.

I love them both but typical Madonna to get catty about another artist that she’s threatened by. So she loves talentless Britney but hates on Gaga, who can sing better, write better and puts her money where her mouth is on supporting the gays. I’m just hoping the new album is worth all the hype. Hard Candy was rubbish.

I think the only controversy is between people commenting from behind the anonymity of computer screens, and fabricating a feud so they feel more connected to icons. People need to chill, I think Madonna and Gaga will be just fine. :)
