Back in 1924, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade was initially called Macy’s Christmas Parade and featured animals from New York’s Central Park Zoo. Now, over-sized helium balloons navigate through the streets of the Big Apple for television viewers to see. The tradition is as American as apple pie. What better way to celebrate it than have a foreigner headline the televised event.
One Direction maybe the biggest boy band in the world right now, but it’s another UK quintet that’s going to serenade New York crowds. The Wanted will bundle up in their stylish coats and scarves to perform SLASH lip sync on November 22. To be fair, do any of the acts actually sing during the parade? Must be a technical thing that organizers don’t want to chance. Find out who else will be joining the “Glad You Came” group on Thanksgiving day.
As you can see in the picture above, Carly Rae Jepsen, Neon Trees, Karmin, Flo Rida and Colbie Caillat have been enlisted for the annual event. An interesting group to say the least, don’t you think? All will be hovering over the crowds in elaborate floats while being surrounded by kids mugging for cameras. I can barely contain my excitement. LOL.
Are you stoked for this year’s line-up? Will you be watching the parade on turkey day? Care to make any predictions on what kind of float each act will board? I bet Carly Rae will be the lucky one to ride the huge turkey. Gobble, gobble. Sound off below. Before I leave you, I just wanted to share the goddess Kylie Minogue working it a couple of years ago. Check it out below.
