I had no idea “One More Night” was a thing. Who knew? It surely hasn’t spawned nearly as many lip dubs or parodies on YouTube as Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe“. But somehow, the Maroon 5 track has matched the Canadian singer’s feat as the longest running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 of 2012 with nine weeks underneath its belt.
The Adam Levine sung single staved off a valiant effort from PSY’s “Gangnam Style” for several weeks. The K-Pop phenomenon spent seven weeks at the runner-up slot. This week it slides from No. 2 to No. 5. If “One More Night” can fend off Rihanna’s “Diamonds” for another week- which shoots up to No. 2 this week- it’ll hold the 2012 record on its own. Given 2013 is around the corner, Maroon 5 could easily earn the prestigious distinction by themselves.
Landing in the third slot is Ke$ha’s “Die Young” which rebounds from 6-3. In the fourth slot is fun’s “Some Nights” with the aforementioned “Gangnam Style” at No. 5. Rounding out the Top 10 this week are Bruno Mars (“Locked Out of Heaven“, No. 6), Taylor Swift (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together“, No. 7), Ne-Yo (“Let Me Love You“, No. 8), Alex Clare (“Too Close“, No. 9) and Flo Rida (“I Cry“, No. 10). The latter is a wicked reinvention of Brenda Russell’s sultry ballad “Piano in the Dark” which peaked at No. 6 back in 1988.
Just in case you were wondering what other songs have topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 2012, check out the list below. Surprisingly, it’s a short list. Reason being, the early part of the year was dominated by Gotye and fun.
Are you fan of Maroon 5′s “One More Night“? What’s your favorite No. 1 of 2012? Kelly Clarkson? Carly Rae? How about Adele? Sound off below.

The only thing this song is getting so long on top is the big audience impression it had on other song. This is really strong on radio.
It could become the longest #1 this year but the sale of this song on iTunes is not even close to WAY/STIUTK/CMM. All 3 songs sold more than 5 million, while OMN just pass 2 millions mark not long ago.

the only reason for it staying on top is the fact that radio djs kept playing it since billboard factors airplay as more important factor than digital sales or streams. which is wrong since psy had the number one digital song spot for 5 straight weeks and also the top streaming song for a couple of weeks otherwise known as the consumer portion in my opinion. if radio does not play your song then you will never get a number one unless you get a massive massive digital sales week.

Maroon 5 being #1 that long means there is a drought in the music industry. It is not #1 status in my book
