‘The Lion King’ Live Action Film Reportedly Finds Its Timon & Pumbaa

It’s not official yet, but according to The Wrap, it’s pretty much a done deal. The website reports two actors are in final negotiations to star in Jon Favreau’s highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of The Lion King. Hakuna Matata Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner!

Rogen will reportedly voice the role of the good-hearted and gassy warthog Pumbaa while Eichner is being eyed to tackle the sarcastic mooth-tongued meerkat Timon. Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella voiced the characters in the original 1994 film. The two characters delivered one of the most memorable songs from the musical- the upbeat number, “Hakuna Matata.” The Swahili phrase translates to “no worries”

If Rogen and Eichner sign on the dotted line, they’ll join Donald Glover and James Earl Jones who are voicing Simba and his father Mufasa respectively. The Lion King film arrives in theaters on July 19, 2019. Relive the memorable song below.
