Lea Michele returned to music earlier this week by dropping a teaser for her new single, “Love Is Alive.” The 30-year-old actress just released the full version and, as expected, it’s a soaring power ballad. Watch out Celine Dion! Lea is coming after you. She’s totally mini Celine on the track.
“It’s such a special song for me. I wanted a song on the album that represented where I am personally in my life right now, and this song is exactly that. It’s about believing in love and the power and beauty of love. It made me so happy while recording it, and I hope it brings the same light and joy to everyone else as it has for me” – PEOPLE
While I prefer Lea as a tarted-up sex kitten like on her underrated Louder track, “On My Way,” it’s wise to go with this melodramatic route. “Love Is Alive” is everything her fans want and crave from her. It totally appeals to her target demographic.
“Oh, can’t you hear it in my voice
Oh, can’t you see it in my eyes
Love, love is alive in me”
“Love Is Alive” is the first taste off her sophomore album, Places. It’s written by Chantal Kreviazuk and Nathan Chapman, with production from Xandy Barry.
Overall, it’s a solid track and she sounds fantastic. However, I’m waiting for a sexy dance remix. For me, ballads always make for the best club anthems. Check out Lea’s new single in full below and weigh in afterward.
