‘Exit’ probably isn’t the most appropriate word given that Scream Queens isn’t likely to return. Anything can happen though. After all, FOX surprised many when it renewed the Ryan Murphy horror-comedy for a sophomore season despite anemic ratings.
In the unlikely event it gets a Season 3 renewal, Murphy has reportedly released Lea Michele from her contract to star in a potential ABC comedy. Honestly, this is probably best. It’s wise for the 30-year-old actress to work with producers other than Murphy. That’s how you grow, right?
With regards to her upcoming untitled comedy, it’s about a city mayor. Tony winner Daveed Diggs is also attached to the project. The Hollywood Reporter reveals the series will follow “what happens when an outspoken, idealistic rapper Courtney (Search Party‘s Brandon Micheal Hall) runs for office as a publicity stunt. When he actually gets elected, he surprises everyone (including himself) when he has a natural knack for the job and slowly transforms city hall.”
Reportedly, Michele will replace Brandon Michael Hall to play Courtney. The role is being modified for her specifically.
