Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is one of the shows I should probably break up with. Fourteen seasons is a lot of time to invest on a drama. In my defense, it’s the only crime procedural I watch religiously. I never got into any of the CSIs, both NCIS series or other crime-solving franchises. That said, I’m really looking forward to Kevin Bacon’s The Following on FOX. That looks soooooo good.
Even though very little surprises me on the show anymore, there is something that keeps drawing me in. When Stabler (Christopher Meloni) left, it would’ve been an ideal time to bid sayonara, but my curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to check out the new additions. Surprisingly, I’ve grown to like both Det. Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) and Det. Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). I’m sure I’m not alone with this sentiment and figured there might be a couple of you who might find this bit of casting news interesting. Find out upcoming guest stars below.

As you probably guessed from the title above, alums from Lost and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are heading to SVU. Nia Vardalos will play Counselor Minonna Efron. Her episode airs on January 30th and will also feature Victoria Rowell (The Young and the Restless) and Fred Norris (The Howard Stern Show).
Also coming to the NBC procedural is Lost actor Harold Perrineau. Unlike Vardalos, he’ll end up on the other side of the law. Perrineau will play a career criminal named Brian Traymor. On his episode airing February 6, Marcia Gay Harden returns as FBI Agent Dana Lewis (love her). Jay Karnes from The Shield will also appear in the episode playing the fiancé of one of Traymor’s victims.
Do you still watch Law & Order: SVU? Do you miss Stabler or are you happy with the new cast? Sound off below.

They have somehow managed to keep the stories fresh and relevant so it hardly feels like 14 years at all. I good story is a good story…so keep em coming. (Though if Det Stabler were to return….that would be awesome too)

I’ve loved the new cast…Stabler will be missed of course, but Rollins and Amaro have filled his place perfectly. Rollins is lovely with her southern accent and Amaro is lovely eye candy :)
So happy to know I’m not the only one who religiously watches the show. I’ve been re-watching old episodes on Hulu and and it has amazed me how well they’ve kept up the quality of the show over 14 seasons.
