Which Former ADA Is Returning To Law & Order: SVU?

The simple answer… both of them. The latest in “Law & Order: SVU’s” 13th season casting dramz, sees two former fan favorite ADAs coming back. This almost makes up for the loss of Christoper Meloni (Stabler) for next season- almost being the operative word. Both Stephanie March and Diane Neal will be reprising their roles for a yet-to-be-determined amount of episodes for the show’s 2011-12 season.

March who played ADA Alexandria Cabot appeared on the show as a series regular for the Seasons 2-4, then went part-time in Seasons 5, 6, 10, 11. Last time she appeared on the show, she left for Africa to fight for women’s rights. This was the second time she left the show. The first time had her hiding in the Witness Protection Program after her life was in danger.

Diane Neal first appeared on the show in Season 5 to replace the departing March. She stayed on until Season 9, but left the show when her character ADA Casey Novak was censured for bending the law while prosecuting a case. Neal returned to SVU last season for just one episode. It was revealed her character wasn’t disbarred and was once again permitted to prosecute cases again.

I have to admit, I’m really digging this latest casting development. With Mariska Hargitay going part-time, Christopher Meloni leaving and two new detectives (Danny Pino & Kelli Giddish) on board, it’ll be nice to have a bit of familiarity on the show. Speaking of the familiar, Ice-T has worked out a deal to remain on the show. Too bad, Meloni didn’t have Ice-T’s agent to strong arm producers to giving him what he wanted.
