When Lady Gaga heads to Las Vegas for her residency, she’ll offer up two very different shows to her fans. Enigma will feature all of her uptempo dance and pop hits while Jazz & Piano will be more of a mellow and classy affair. If you go to the latter, you might hear this little tune.
The 32-year-old entertainer teams up with American jazz musician and trumpet player Brian Newman for “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” It’s a cover of a Nina Simone classic that’s featured on Newman’s new album Showboat, out today. Gaga previously worked with Newman on her jazz album with Tony Bennett, Cheek To Cheek. Coincidentally, Newman’s new LP was produced by Tony’s son Dae Bennett. Gaga clearly loves her Bennett boys.
“We knew we wanted to get Lady Gaga on the new album and ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ felt like the perfect song,” Brian Newman said, adding that Showboat is a “diverse playlist that is steeped in the tradition of classic American music as well as its modern counterparts.”
