Another day, another “That beyotch Lady Gaga stole my song” claim. Ever since the Fame Monster released “Born This Way“, claims of Gaga ripping people off have surfaced. In the short time the song is been out, she’s been accused of biting Carl Bean’s “I Was Born This Way” and Madonna’s “Express Yourself“, which BTW I still don’t see. Having said that, the latest claim coming from Asia seems to be the most credible of them all.
Music producer E-Tribe who worked on SNSD’s “Be Happy” , has come forward to comment on the similarities between Gaga’s hit and the K-Pop group. Here’s what E-Tribe said in a statement:
“Someone this morning told me that there were reports of Lady Gaga plagiarizing SNSD’s ‘Be Happy.’ I listened, and I do feel that there are similarities. The way the song flows and the arrangements are, honestly, the same. I am currently working to get in contact with Lady Gaga’s publishing label to find further information.”
SNSD aka Girl’s Generation is Korea’s current IT girl group of the moment. Forbes named them as Korea’s most powerful celebrity due to their influence extending to other Asian countries. They have multiple endorsement deals including Nintendo, Dior Cosmetics, and Domino’s to name a few. If these accusations turn out to be true, the publicity surrounding the scandal could elevate the K-Pop girl group onto a worldwide stage.
I have to admit, at first I ignored the plagiarism claim, but after hearing it, you can’t deny there are some striking similarities. Whether Gaga ripped “Be Happy” off or just a coincidence, the proof is in the pudding. Check out the audio below and judge for yourself.
Much ado about nothing or is E-Tribe’s plagiarism claim warranted? Sound off below.
