When Kylie Minogue signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management a couple of weeks ago, she promised new music was on the horizon. While “Whistle” has never been released, it’s not the music she teased her fans about. In fact, “Whistle” was recorded back in 2011 for a movie titled, Jack and Diane staring Juno Temple and Riley Keough. As a side note, the film title has no relation to John Cougar’s classic 80s track. In fact, the Jack and Diane in the flick are both women.
In addition to contributing to the film’s soundtrack, the Aussie sex bomb makes an appearance in the film. “Whistle” isn’t the dance track you’re accustomed to hearing from the 44-year-old singer. She collaborated with experimental Icelandic group, múm for it. Gunnar Tynes from the band stated, “It is not the typical pop song we might have written for Minogue but we rather wrote it with the film in mind.” Check it out below, along with the movie trailer for Jack and Diane.
