Interview: Kimberly Caldwell

During my recent trip to Los Angeles, I had a fantastic opportunity to meet up with American Idol season two alum, Kimberly Caldwell. Adam and I met up with the blond beauty over on Robertson Street at KP (Karina Plastinina) to do a bit of shopping and a lot of talking. We discussed her upcoming debut album, “Without Regret” which drops on July 27, 2010.

It’s been seven years since Miss Caldwell made the top ten of American Idol, but she hasn’t been laying low. Kimberly has been busy in the entertainment industry doing several hosting gigs on TV Guide, Fox Sports and the P. Diddy MTV reality show, “Starmaker”. After all these years in 2010, she decided to drop one mic down to pick up the other.

Mess of You“, the first single from her debut album has been on heavy rotation on my iPhone for several months now. If you haven’t heard it yet, I definitely recommend you do so. It’s a bit pop, a bit rock, but a whole lot of attitude. Her raspy vocals are perfect for the track.

“Without Regret” features four songs co-written by Caldwell herself, plus tracks by Dianne Warren, Kara DioGuardi and Chad Kroeger. If “Mess of You” is any indication on what we can expect to hear on her album, I’m sure it’ll be a hit. Don’t take my word for it. She was touted by the NY Post as one of the ten musicians to watch out for in 2010. Though her fans have waited a long time for her music to come out, it has definitely been worth the wait. Pick it up. I promise you won’t have any “regrets”.

Prior to meeting up with Kimberly, I have to admit I was a tad nervous. Normally, I’m the guy behind the camera or the guy on the other end of a phone interview. To boot, we were filming on Robertson Street- a high end, often paparazzi filled, shopping area. KP was literally only a couple blocks from “The Ivy”.

At the beginning, you can definitely tell I’m stumbling over my words, but as the interview progressed, I felt more at ease. I credit that mostly to Kimberly. She not only made me feel at ease, but she was so inviting, I felt I had partied with her the night before. This isn’t just lip service, but not only is Kimberly a talented singer, gorgeous girl but she has the personality and soul to match.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area and want to see Kimberly sing live, you’re in luck. She’ll be be performing at The Hotel Cafe on June 15, 2010. Click here for more details.
