Kesha Officiates A Lesbian Wedding In ‘I Need A Woman’ Music Video

Universal Love: Wedding Songs Reimagined is a six-track EP that features classic songs but recorded with same-sex pronouns. It’s a celebration of homoerotic love performed by a mix of gay and straight artists. Bob Dylan, St. Vincent, Valerie June, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke and Kesha appear on the LP.

Speaking of the latter, Kesha recorded the Janis Joplin hit “I Need A Woman To Love” as her contribution. For the accompanying visual, the 31-year-old singer officiates a lesbian wedding. She’s first shown driving through the desert before arriving at the Bellagio in Las Vegas to perform the ceremony. The Lagan Sebert-directed clip was filmed on March 26, the anniversary of the first same sex marriage license issued in the US.

The album was funded by MGM Resorts International. According to chief executive Jim Murren, gay weddings account for 20 to 30 percent of the ceremonies performed at the company’s 15 hotels in Las Vegas. Check out the “I Need A Woman” music video below.
