Gladiators be sure you set your digital recording devices to tape Saturday Night Live on November 2. Kerry Washington is breaking her SNL cherry that night and hosting the show for the first time. The Scandal star will be joined by SNL music veteran Eminem who returns for his sixth appearance on the show.

I can’t wait for the inevitable Olivia Pope sketch. Should be priceless. Surprisingly, Washington is only the 9th black woman to host in the show’s 39-year history. That’s such a low number considering over 750 shows have aired. Previous hosts include Oprah Winfrey, Queen Latifah, Gabourey Sidibe, Janet Jackson and Halle Berry. I believe Cicely Tyson was the first to do so back in 1978. SNL experts, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Taking on hosting duties the week before Washington’s arrival is also another first-timer. Though he’s made a few cameo appearances throughout the years, Edward Norton will be headlining for the first time. He’ll be joined by fellow SNL virgin Janelle Monae as musical guest.

Excited about either Kerry Washington or Edward Norton coming to the NBC show? After the wicked one-two punch of Tina Fey and Miley Cyrus hosting, last weekend with Bruce Willis was a tad underwhelming, don’t you think? Sound off below.
