Kendrick Lamar Makes History With Pulitzer Prize Win

Established in 1917, the Pulitzer Prize celebrates achievements in newspaper, magazine and online journalism, literature, and musical composition in the United States. 20 of the 21 category winners receive a certificate and a U.S. $15,000 cash award, while the winner in the public service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal.

He’s the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the category. Damn has been certified double platinum and won Best Rap Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
