Compared to last year, it’s been relatively quiet on The X Factor casting front. Before Britney Spears and Demi Lovato officially came on board, practically every pop star’s name was mentioned as a possible replacement for Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. This year, with exception to Cheryl Cole, there really hasn’t been anyone I can recall as a rumored potential judge.
With so many singing competitions on the air, not to mention in the UK and Australia, the pool of interested musicians wanting to judge is very limited. Maybe that explains this potential rumor. That, or musicians might think the FOX show is a sinking ship and don’t want any part of it. Find out who’s reportedly in the mix below.
According to the UK Daily Mail, Simon Cowell is interested in bringing back Kelly Rowland back to The X Factor family. The former Destiny’s Child member judged the UK version for one series. The 32-year-old singer mentored the girls during the eighth series. Even though she had three acts in the Final 5, her judging stint wasn’t well-received across the pond. At one point, it was rumored her bosses were upset she flew back to the US during the show and subsequently missed a week due to “illness.”
Regardless of naysayers, I’m on board with a panel that includes Rowland. She’s always been my favorite from DC. With a new album to promote, the show could certainly help with sales. Besides Britney’s collaboration with will.i.am (“Scream & Shout“), I’m shocked that Demi, Nicole or Paula didn’t take advantage of the show’s platform to launch new material. Do you think Simon bringing Kelly is a wise move? On the Kelly front, do you think this is a good career move? Sound off below.
