No exaggeration, but I had to do a double take when I first read about this duet. This collaboration, while not the most out there, is definitely an unusual pairing. For some reason, I just can’t see Michael Bolton rocking out to “Commander” or “Motivation.” Can you? Perhaps the 60-year-old balladeer was more of a fan of Kelly Rowland’s Destiny’s Child catalogue. Maybe “Bootylicious” was his jam. Whatever the reason, a Kelly and Michael duet actually happened. I’m still in shock.

Bolton enlisted a few artists to sing with him for his upcoming Motown covers album. Titled Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: A Tribute to Hitsville, the compilation will feature Melanie Fiona, Michael Lington and the aforementioned Rowland. Regarding the latter, the duo teams up on the classic, “Aint’ No Mountain High Enough.” Definitely one of my favorite Motown tracks of all time. If you recall, the original, written by Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson, was sung by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Check out Mikey and Kelly’s cover below.

Other tracks featured on Bolton’s new album include “You Keep Me Hanging On,”, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and “Ain’t Nothin Like The Real Thing.” What do you think of this duet? Do their voices complement each other? Sound off below.
