Whether it’s intentional or purely subliminal, Kelly Rowland is following in Janet Jackson’s footsteps again. The artwork for her two most recent albums have channeled some major Jackson fierceness circa janet era. Now, she’s using a sample the “Escapade” singer used to great success previously. Janet’s 1997 hit “Got Til It’s Gone” heavily featured Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi.” And now it’s Kelly’s turn.

Instead of using a direct sample, Rowland’s lyrics incorporates lines from Mitchell’s iconic song. “Gone” is the latest track leaked from her album Talk A Good Game hitting stores next week. Rapper Wiz Khalifa appears on the track as well. Check out the Harmony-produced mid-tempo track below. Not going to lie, I’ve listened to it at least ten times since first hearing it this morning. I’m obsessed. What can I say, I love Janet Kelly.
