She’s dabbled in country music before, but Kelly Clarkson is going full out hoedown with her new track. The 31-year-old debuted “Tie It Up” a couple of weeks ago during a live performance at the 2013 CMA Festival in Nashville, but now we have a high-quality studio version of it. It’s part country, part rock but 100 percent Kelly. Let’s face it. Deep down, the original American Idol is a country girl at heart.
“So @GoCountry105 just played my new country single “Tie It Up”!!,” the 31-year-old singer wrote on her Twitter account. “Thank you Go Country!! I was having a rough day. Y’all made it better.”
“Tie It Up” serves as the first promotional single off her upcoming sixth studio album. With a greatest hits album under her belt, does this track signal a new era for Clarkson? Is she forgoing mainstream radio for Nashville? After all, she’s marrying into country royalty. Her fiance Brandon Black is Reba McEntire’s stepson. Give her twangy new song a listen below and see if you like “country” Kelly more than “pop” Kelly. “Tie It Up” is scheduled to hit iTunes and other digital platforms on June 25.
