Watch out Adam Lambert, there’s another American Idol alum headed to the 2012 VH1 Divas Live concert. Kelly Clarkson is one of five new acts added to this year’s event being held in Los Angeles on December 16. A few days ago, the network released a promo featuring Lambert shattering glass with his voice. If anyone else could give Glambert a run for his money on those extremely high notes, it’s the original Idol, Miss Kelly “Stronger” Clarkson.
This isn’t Clarkson’s first time at the rodeo. She co-headlined last year’s tribute to the great soul cities with Mary J. Blige & Jennifer Hudson. Kelly previously headlined the show back in 2009 as well with Adele and Leona Lewis performing. The 30-year-old singer joins Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks as they celebrate dance music at this year’s concert. The show also includes a tribute to Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. Find out what four new acts were added to the list of performers.
Australian DJ and singer Havana Brown will no doubt bring her infectious “We Run The Night” to the dance party. Pitbull who is featured on Havana’s track will also appear on the show. Hopefully, he performs “Don’t Stop The Party“. I can’t get enough of that song. Also joining them are R&B sensation Melanie Fiona and Canadian indie rock band Metric.
As in previous years, this edition of VH1 Divas will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping music education alive in American public schools. To date, VH1 Save The Music has provided more than $49.5 million in new musical instruments to 1,850 public schools in more than 128 school districts around the country, impacting the lives of over 2.1 million children.
Which act are you most looking forward to performing? Will Kelly Clarkson steal the show? I just hope a duet with Clarkson and Lambert is in the works. I would love for these two to battle it out. May the bigger Diva win.
