Not gonna lie. I was kinda bored with this latest “Carpool Karaoke” segment until Katy Perry spilled all the tea in China. I honestly thought she was never going to address her feud with Taylor Swift. Not only did she talk about it, but girlfriend was candidly frank about it.
“There’s a situation. Honestly, it’s really like she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it,” Katy explained to James Corden after he asked about their infamous feud. “I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me…I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me, and I’m like, OK, cool, cool, cool, that’s how you want to deal with it? Karma!”
Dang!!! Katy went all in. After Perry revealed her latest track “Swish Swish” was about bullies and not a clap back at Swift’s “Bad Blood,” this openness was surprising. Honestly, good for Katy for sticking up for herself. Obviously, there are two sides to every story, but I believe her when the 32-year-old singer says she tried to reach out to Taylor to squash the beef.
Along with “Swish Swish,” Perry and Corden belted out “Firework,” “Dark Horse,” “Bon Appetit,” and “Roar.” Watch their duets below. If you just want to hear the juicy bits about Taylor, skip to the 5:56 mark. There’s plenty more that I didn’t share.
