Update your breakup/revenge playlists because last night Katy Perry debuted hot new track called “Part Of Me,” performing it live for the first time at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Today, she released the lyric video for the track for you to enjoy.
It’s clear by the lyrics that the song is clearly directed at her ex, Russell Brand. Perry sings, “So you can keep the diamond ring… It don’t mean nothing anyway. In fact, you can keep everything… yeah, yeah… except for me!” She then goes into the chorus singing, “This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me, no!” The lyrics and sound of the song remind of something I’d expect from Kelly Clarkson. Nonetheless, it’s great to see Katy Perry venting about her breakup and pouring her feelings of anger and empowerment into this song. I love it and have already downloaded it.
The song will be included on her upcoming March 26, 2012 album ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection‘. In addition to this song, the album will also feature two more new songs. Check out the lyric video for “Part of Me” below. I’ve also included the link for you to download the track on iTunes.
