As you might’ve noticed, I’ve been MIA this past week. I’m currently taking a course and focusing most of my time on that. Expect sporadic posts for the next couple of weeks. Apologies and thanks for always coming back.
Friday always sees a bunch of new music dropping, but this one was especially hectic. With Memorial Day over and summer unofficially here, musical acts are sharing their Song of the Summer contenders. Check out a few of the new tracks hoping to dominate your playlists the upcoming months.
Katy Perry Never Really Over’ Music Video
Not counting her features, “Never Really Over” is Katy Perry’s first solo single since her Witness album back in 2017. The soaring pop bop, about letting go, is produced by Zedd and Dreamlab and features an instantly catchy chorus. The accompanying visual directed by Philippa Price finds Perry channeling her inner hippie in Malibu. Check it out below.
Tiesto & Jonas Blue ft. Rita Ora ‘Ritual”
Rita Ora is no stranger when it comes to dance anthem collaborations. She’s teamed up with Kygo and Avicii in the past. This time around, it’s with EDM hitmakers Tiesto and Jonas Blue. No doubt, this will make its impact at clubs worldwide. Give it a spin below.
Mark Ronson ft. Camila Cabello ‘Find U Again’
We’ve already heard his Miley Cyrus collabo “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” and his Lykke Li-assisted “Late Night Feelings.” Now, we have the latest track off his forthcoming fifth studio album out June 21 and it features the amazing Camila Cabello. Like the rest, “Find U Again” is a sad banger with a sick beat.
The Chainsmokers ft. Bebe Rexha ‘Call You Mine’ Music Video
Despite dropping some decent material including “This Feeling” featuring Kelsea Ballerini, The Chainsmokers haven’t been able to match the success of their earlier work. Their new one, “Call You Mine” with Bebe Rexha, is another solid offering, but doubt it’ll do anything to reverse their downward trend. I like it though.
Herve Pagez, Diplo & Charli XCX ‘Spicy’ Music Video
Charli XCX teams up with Herve Pagez and Diplo to put their spin on a Spice Girls classic. Their re-imagination of “Wannabe” is pretty faithful with regards to the verses, but the chorus is a whole different story. Kinda dig it. Check out the Redd + Rader-directed visual below.
Cheryl ‘Let You’ Music Video
Cheryl Cole has been MIA for the past few years. She’s been busy shacking up with her ex Liam Payne and raising their son Bear. “Let You” is her first single in over five years. Check out her comeback offering below.
Cardi B ‘Press”
The reigning Queen of Hip-Hop is back with a new track. Will her streak continue with her latest offering? Probably. She has the Midas Touch when it comes to churning out smashes. Give “Press” a listen below.
Kim Petras ‘Do Me’ Lyric Video
Sometimes less is more. Kim Petras has released six new tracks in the past two months. That’s a little overkill in my opinion. With that being said, “Do Me” is another sexy bop. It’s by far her most raunchy with its provocative lyrics.
Tove Lo ‘Glad He’s Gone’ Lyric Video
Tove Lo just kicked off her new Sunshine Kitty era and in a feisty fashion. “Glad He’s Gone,” produced by The Struts and Shellback, is all about advising your BFF that their lover is a big loser and time to dump his sorry ass. My kind of anthem 🙂
Maggie Lindemann ‘Friends Go’ Music Video
Miss old school Gwen Stefani? Maggie Lindemann does a decent job, whether intentional or not, of channeling the No Doubt frontwoman on her new track “Friends Go.” Directed by Van Alpert, Maggie finds herself playing the third wheel in the accompanying clip. We’ve all been there before, right?
SOFI TUKKER & Bomba Estéreo ‘Playa Grande’
Words can’t express how much I love Sofi Tukker. I’ve seen them numerous times live and always had a blast. When it comes to colorful visuals, this duo never disappoints. Check out their “Playa Grande” clip featuring Bomba Estereo below. Someone book me on a Latin beach vacay stat!!!
