Earlier this week, I posted Katy Perry’s upcoming appearance on “Sesame Street’s” 41st season. While I enjoyed the reworked version she sang, a lot of parents did not. Apparently, the brunette’s ample breasts and revealing outfit were too much for parent’s to handle. To say they were offended is an understatement. I guess they didn’t want the ABCs to stand for cleavage.

In just three days, the original video has amassed more than a million views. Despite the popularity of the video, “Sesame Street” has decided to not air the clip on the show. Seriously?!?!?! Personally, I don’t think the outfit is revealing at all. You have figure skaters wearing the same, if not less, amount on the ice. But since that’s an athletic competition and the ladies usually have smaller boobs, it’s somehow less offensive. Here a few of the comments posted on YouTube:

“You can practically see her t*ts. That’s some wonderful children’s programming.”?

“They’re gonna have to rename it Cleavage Avenue”

“My kid wants milk now”

“Elmo got a boner”

I thought the video was cute and as someone who watches kids programming when babysitting my niece, I appreciate Katy’s inclusion. Here’s an official statement, released by the prodcuers:

“Sesame Street has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists.  Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult.  We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver.  We also value our viewer’s opinions and particularly those of parents.  In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube.”
